Bronx Home Inspections - They take a special kind of home inspector. There is so much diversity in the construction and style of the homes here in the Bronx that it amazes me that some home inspectors walk into a building type that they have never seen before and expect to perform a thorough home inspection. I am a resident here of the Bronx, and I have a great deal of experience in the buildings around me. We also have a saying here at Parker and West Engineering - "a home inspection only a professional engineer can provide". That is because there is more to a building than looking around and saying that everything is fine. For instance, how many home inspectors on a home inspection can tell you the expansion rate of the steel and the concrete in your building (they expand and contract at almost the same rate, which is one of the many reasons why we use them together). It may seem like a small point that should be on a trivia card, but information like that is very important. Imagine that a home inspector calls out a structural defect because of a steel beam and concrete expanding differently - I use this illustration because it happens. He would then recommend an engineer, who then has a fee on top of the home inspection fee. The engineer comes and tells you the small fact above and collects his fee. Why wouldn't you go the engineer to begin with? In short, home inspections are an extremely important step in buying your home here in the Bronx. It is meant to protect and inform you. So make sure you choose the best home inspector possible for your home inspection here in the Bronx! Questions? Contact me and I will be happy to help!
