Missing handrails - they don't exactly need an engineer to diagnose them, but they are nonetheless a concern. First of all, they are a safety concern. One of those safety items that no one really thinks about until something happens. Then when someone gets hurt everyone starts to ask why there was not handrail. Another reason why they are so important are codes and rules. For instance, many parts of the city enforce rules stating when and where you need to have handrails - and not having them could lead to fines, or worse. Another thing to consider is your mortgager. If it is an FHA, VA, or other type of loan they often require handrails before they will issue the money. So in the end, handrails are not the most expensive thing a home owner will ever fix on theri home, but definitely important. Leave a Reply. |
